hurt and treated at the scene for minor injuries the investigation is continu ing ancheril wants off conservation board tracy kibble staff reporter the town is wasting its time sending an elected official to sit on a local conser vation board said one stouffville politi cian last week ward 5 councillor bob ancheril who sits on the lake simcoe and region con servation authority lsrca said he is fed up with the environmental board and wants staff to take over his responsibili ties ancheril brought the matter up after a staff report called for the towns involve ment in setting up committees to deal with various restructuring matters with in several provincial conservation author ities ancheril said the lsrca changed its meeting times from the evening to 9 am fridays a time when he as a business person cant possibly attend ancheril admitted he has stopped attending the regular meetings since the times were changed and told officials the membership costs are too high for the amount of influence the community car ries with the board officials agreed to ask the lsrca to change its meetings back to the evenings so that working board memberscould attend but if ancheril doesnt want to attend the sessions he may be forced to resign since the board is comprised of elected officials not municipal staff members dead end ninth line petitioners a band of ninth line south residents have spearheaded another petition to have their street deadended to cease access at main street jennie bangay representing residents on the arterial road to markham said councillors have a responsibility to the homeowners children and seniors living on the street to ensure their safety the recent sidewalk installa tion isnt enough bangay said and requested these further initiatives be undertaken on the ninth line south install a no heavy truck sign on the road there are an increasing number of large dump trucks and 18- wheelers using the ninth line which sometimes wake residents up as early as 6 am on sundays bangay said an elimination of trucks would also reduce the deterio ration of the road bangay added install a threeway stop at sunset blvd at the entrance of parkview village this is a lowcost way to slow down the traffic and pro tect older drivers who are turn ing in and out of parkview bangay said r install a crosswalk at sun set blvd for the safety of at least nine children living on the east side that must cross the road each school day to use the newlyinstalled sidewalk on the west side install a deadend sign at main street so that cars will no longer have access at
