east the stouffville merchants gave their fans a preview of the team which will contest the canadian junior mens fastball title this week in st johns newfoundland last wednesday night bolstered by three players picked from among the best in the province the merchants edged the oshawa juniors 21 the game marked the last home appearance for the ontario champion mer chants before leaving for st johns this past friday evening the large supportive crowd watched owen sound recruit todd martin shut down the oshawa offence in hisfive inning stint martin racked up a total of 11 strike outs holland on aug 29 to assist in her familys business after instructing at the eglinton club for a year and a half the club is holding a senior show this sunday followed by a barbe cue on aug 24 to 25 the fox run future horse show will be held at eglinton the show will feature both hunter and jumper divisions entries are available at the club royals tie aurora to help end skid the stouffville royals put the brakes on their recent skid when they held the visitors from aurora to a 33 tie at the rec centre field last wednesday evening the royals came on strong in the games opening half outshooting their opponents by a 73 margin while scoring a pair of goals chris pettitt netted the games first goal for the royals with assists going to robbie taylor and erik jensen after aurora tied it up taylor restored the stouffville aurora squared things again and then andrew post gave the royals a 32 lead on a goal from cheeatow and taylor t but aurora managed tied it before time rans but philip mccomiskey was impressive in goal for the royals marco bucci who had scored his first goal of the sea son the week previous continued his aggressive offen sive play for the stouffville squad play host to bowmanville at the town park next thursday v precision auto try for ladies league title the uxbridge precision auto refinishing intermediate ladies softball team will be going for all the marbles this weekend the uxbridge ladies are contest ing the south lake simcoe ladies league playoff champi onship at the richmond hill greens located at leslie st and elgin mills the threeday competition which begins friday evening involves all seven teams from the league the host richmond hill outfit was given a bye into the second round of the event due to its first place finish in the leagues regular season standings precision auto starts off with a game against mt albert and will then play either scarborough or zephyr in game two the auto crew which dropped a 12r2 decision to richmond hill last week closes out the regular season with games against scar borough and zephyr this week
