orthodox church scarborough ontario in loving memory of anthony joseph passafiume born sept 12th 1942 to loving parents rose and sam passaiiume anthony was raised in scarborough on a farm located at markham rd and ellssmere rd he attended ss 6 public school on ellesmere rd now the site of woburn secondary school his elder brother frank and two younger sisters marie and rosemary also attended ss 6 one of his favourite teachers was mr lyons anthony entered aglncourt high school in the late fifties transportation to high school was limited there was no bus from ellesmere road to sheppard ave on markham road and he often got a ride with mr taylor the vice principal at agincourt high school tony was on the football team at agincourt he quit high school in grade 13 when his dad sam passed away at age nineteen tony built a small building on the family farm and began a business there that grew enormously year by year he enlarged the store two or three times he had a very good sense for business and worked very long hours at his store it was one of the most successful open air markets in scarborough at the time ft was known as central farms market in 1967- he married and bought property in markham on 14th ave where he lived two years later he purchased a farm on hwy 48 north of 16th ave tony operated central farms market until 1974 when he leased out the store and began a new business at the farm in markham on hwy 48 within a very short time his pickyourown vegetable business in markham was thriving he planted over 200 acres of vegetables annually and sold them on site he grew everything from corn to watermelons eventually he also began to grow strawberries which were also sold on site tony knew many people we his family have placed this article in the local paper on the anniversary of his death as a trbuts to him firstly and secondly so that those people who we meet even yet who dont know he has passed away will know tony died january 26 1989 of lung cancer he
