the first woman officer of the ontario provincial police have hi common they all attended stouffville district secondary school and if jim rehill has his way theyll be at the schools huge reunion scheduled for may 1718 next year mr rehill who will retire at the end of this his 34th year as a teacher at sdss is hoping to bring back up to 4000 alumni for the gala affair and as he sifts through his col lection of old year books his eyes light up when recalling the jim rehill fond memories faces and names of those who have attended his classes and played on his numerous athletic tennis throughout the years details of their athletic prowess their academic standing and their current life standing keep mr rehill animated as he conjures up facts and memories of his former charges he recalls how frank hendy a former councillor for the town ship of uxbridge held the schools halfmile running record when mr rehill came to sdss in 1957 he then turns a page in the yearbook that reveals a 1962 pic ture of marilyn fosdick who is now marilyn ferguson whitchurchstouffville librarys chief administrative officer marvin betz who now presides over a nationally known swim ming pool business which bears his name wanted to be an amer ican disc jockey back in 1962 according to the yearbook joe thistle class of 76 went on to produce the mccowan sports show susan storry also from 76 would become the first woman opp officer and fred roberts who went forth in 1984 and has won international acclaim as a commercial artist mr renins own offspring have gone on to distinguish themselves his son mike a vol leyball mainstay while at sdss in the early 1980s is a prominent toronto radio personality who has a full repertoire of voices he now uses to make commercials a second son david class of 78 is head of the history depart ment at holy trinity high school in richmond hill then theres brian wilkes who of the sdss variety show in the mid1980s is now the manager of thebriars resort at lake sim- coe jennifer smith who mr rehill recalls initiated the schools annual john turner trophy after the likable sdss student who was brutally murdered is now head of the physical education department at thornlea high school in thomhill another late 70s graduate eugene reesor who was a top athlete and student can be found crunching numbers as head of finance at the parkview village complex mr rehill notes with pride how laurie buckland the best quar terback this school ever had left the school without a specific direction in the late 60s only to end up as the resident golf pro at the aurora highlands golf and country club the journey through the past goes on for another hour or so as mr rehill expresses his hopes of renewed acquaintances with the thousands of former students next spring then its back to the present with mr rehill ever the con summate educator as he heads back to his desk to check his stu dents work in the class of 91 what will the future bring for them he wonders brian wilkes former basketball whiz now works as the sales manager at giles chevolds here in town but who back in 1962 was a basketball whiz who would go on to coach the first- sdss senior girls cage team to ever win the georgian bay champi onship another highprofile graduate is wayne oldham who joined the metropolitan toronto police force following his graduation in 1964 he is now one of the forces most prominent homicide detectives mr rehill also has fond memo ries of peter sanderson presi dent of the student council in 1969 who is now on the other side of the administration in his position as vice principal at fenelon falls high school leslie stronach who impressed teachers as producer o recommended rural area policy including locational criteria for golf
