recently spent a week on the garden river indian reserve in sault ste marie we left on june 30th and came back on july 7th said pastoral intern brian simcoe the program was initiated when church representatives approached abe and shirley janzen who are missionaries on the reserve and asked how they could help them out we put on a kind of backyard bible club and did puppet shows at the band office on the reserve explained simcoe they also performed in the parks at city hall and in the com munity centre the puppet show is the hook that brings the kids in then we talk to them about what it means to be in a bible club the team also organized games and crafts for the children on the reserve and went swimming with them they will be offering the same program at local camps and parks throughout the summer all students were given the opportunity to be involved and all benefitted from a valuable learning experience noted sim coe the church is hoping to offer one or two such programs every year on different reserves gormley news friends visit from indiana miss carrie anne tussey of indiana is spending several weeks holidays with her grandparents rev and mrs marlin ressler they attended camp kahquah near magnetawan this past week mr and mrs lloyd hogg visited their son and daugtherinlaw dr and mrs craig hogg and family in elliot lake mr lloyd steckley was involved in a car accident last week he has torn ligaments in his right ankle and is on crutches a number of gormley people are attending the family camp of the mis sionary church in stayner mrs bruce benson and mrs lorena sayers attended the conference of the canadian mission ary churches in calgary last week misses freda henderson and dorothy good attended the world mennonite conference in winnipeg several people from heise hill attend ed the international brethren in christ mission rally at the niagara christian college in fort erie recently mr tom christilaw of blind river passed away in laurentian hospital in sudbury early on saturday july 21 he is survived by his wife the former ruth gooding of gormley daughters dr jan of white rock bc jill of sudbury allison of london sons scott of north bay and tim at home and two grand sons mr and mrs vernon gooding mrs eldon gooding mrs allan doner mrs lynn rieck and mrs marlyn doner attended the fimeral yyci v vh ifivaaui
