magic in stouffville memorial park on july 1 as part of the strawberry festival its another contribution of local cultural patron joe lebovic whose stouffville cultural foundation is covering the enthusiasm goes back to his early childhood when his aunt intro duced him to the music which was her passion the beginnings of his own group v came about when he responded to an ad placed by a jazz enthusiast in the markham economist and sun asking people who were interested in old jazz records to get in touch with him as a result a whole group got together at various dif ferent homes and began playing their favorite music later they gathered at the old markham arena at highway 7 and 48 from there they moved to the basement of fernandos restaurant on markham s main street and then two or three little bands formed out of the bigger group from there they began to play at different clubs and events and thats where most of their bookings are generated the inspiration for their name came
