with a pail of water on the last day of school in 1988 the water had original ly been intended for staff member sue leroy who was spared because she was pregnant and they threw it over me instead explains mr connell we chased them around a bit and then i said ill get you girls next year it wasnt until this year he got his own back on the last day of school he arranged for a photo session with the two perpetrators and four other stu dents who were also leaving sdss i was in the kitchen with two whipped cream pies i told the girls i wanted a humorous picture and asked them to close their eyes and stick out their tongues i snuck out and kapow i got them right in the middle of their noses when the initial shock wore off the two girls heather maxwell and darlene baggs accepted his revenge with good grace still maybe mr con nell should keep his eyes open in 1991 heidis number one humber college student heidi hirsch daughter of longtime stouf fville residents hans and pauline was surprised and delighted when she won first place in the young bartender canadian competition in the first year of a hotel and restaurant management program the other ten contestants had tended bar before but it was heidis first attempt the bar instructor told her to go ahead and enter even though shed never done it before she went by the recipe and took her time measuring everything carefully she was so sur prised when she won explains hans heidi will now go on to represent canada in the young bartender world competition in lisbon portugal shes leaving on july 1st flying to germany and italy and then on to por tugal memorial award the york region board of educa tion has recommended acceptance of the fred crossen memorial award for students in five area schools mr crossen passed away in september of 1988 at the age of 88 years and his wife eleanor applied to the board for approval of the annual presentation which would recognize citizenship and community involvement for a student who would not otherwise win an award fred was always interested in doing something like this noted mrs crossen he used to mention it and we never did get it done but he was good about helping people out after be passed away i thought it would be nice to do something along those lines the recipient of each award will be chosen by the principal in consultation with school staff one student will be selected from each of the following schools stouffville district secondary school summitview public school orchard park public school and dick son hill public school which mr crossen himself attended
