less motorists ponder the future of their skyrocketing premiums but stoiiffville business people were given another view last week as expressed by a claims vicepres ident from allstate insurance and despite reassurances from the industry executive no solid bits of good news were gleaned from the meeting organized by the whitchurchstouffville chamber of commerce from all accounts outside the insurance industry nofault is going to be an administrative and legal nightmare others claim nofault policies will harm the very people the legis lation was originally drafted pro tect meanwhile several york region municipalities have decided they too oppose nofault as proposed at the provincial legislature top much rhetoric- on both sides of the issue and too few clear solid guidelines for the average person are available currently the nofault proposal is riddled with faults and we pay in the long run burning questions never answered some random thoughts and ques tions that have occurred in recent days regarding local politics who will be fran salisburys successor on council should she cop the provincial liberal nomina tion in markham riding what does fran have her sights set on nothing less than the envi ronment portfolio we hope also are the provincial tories serious about cleaning up their act is their huge party deficit a sign of their governing abilities who exactly are diane cunningham and michael harris don cousens is well respected and markham is a tory stronghold but the liberals despite occasional displays of arrogance are riding high on the popularity scales do you think durham- york mpp at random m yy steve houston bill ballinger and fran would make a good local team assum ing she does get the nomination and then wins an election there are definite possiblities there could music mania parodies be just around the corner were waiting impatiently for the outcome of it all random thoughts and questions regarding marital bliss does your mate resident dear editor i have lived in stouffville for about 14 years now and in my trav els throughout the province admit with a little pride that this is where i live ive always felt this town has good community government and sensible rules today i found out how a not- sosensible federal government can influence the daily lives of the resi dents of stouffville on the door of the post office is a notice that as of may 14 access to the mailboxes will be restricted to the hours which the post office is open everyone does not have a ninetofive job i work for a con struction company and am in our office at 7 am due to the nature of the business and the concept that the office pro vides administrative support for the operations our office closes at 6 pm i questioned one of the postal clerks about how i was supposed to get my mail and was told that due to vandalism it was decided to close access to the boxes and that i would have ttfget someone in town to pick up my mail i was also advised that if i didnt like it i could call downtown due to the zoning plan i cannot get a sidewalk box and must main tain a box at the post office they improved our service and closed saturday mornings now even though their financial statements for the past two years has shown con siderable profit they cannot even organize their administration to stag ger hours of personnel to maintain access to the mail boxes of core resi dents the federal government spends a pile of time and money to provide services in french and english but cannot maintain a decent postal ser vice in the town of
