platoon coming off a moraleboosting tournament win in oshawa the previous weekend allowed the greenbank gamblers to gain measure of revenge wednesday for betz tournament semifinal win over the gamblers in oshawa the gmen turned a couple of betz errors into a second inning 20 lead and despite pools pit cher john annis holding the gamblers to two singles the rest of the way the betz bats couldnt bring any of their eight base run ners around to score on two occasions betz base runners were easy outs trying to take extra bases ruining promis ing rallies but in oshawa thursday night betz coach told me that annis was a crafty veteran who pitched with his head i john will always find a way to get batters out said emery i remember my anxiety when early in the season emery chose to start finals with port perry in 1983 he remembers the night he struck out 17 batters while pit ching for the stouffville juniors 18years ago he fanned 20 three years back in a tournament game and of course
