a8 ttutsukejukcmlgef spss news farewell offering to mates andrea- valerie grundy sdss columnist as the school year draws to a close the graduating students are all too aware of what lies ahead for them although on one hand this is a joyous celebration it is also a sad time as the students say tearful goodbyes to the friends theyve had for the past five years each person will be going their separate way and will have to start all over again the feelings of fear excite ment and anticipation run free when speaking to different people from the graduating class one finds that they all remember the same thing about their high school lives of course they remember the countless number of assigments and tests but most ly they recall the togetherness that students and teachers showed when something really needed to be done they also remember the school spirit that was quite abundant when they entered grade 9 some even explained that this was the reason they decided to stand up against some authorities no one wants the students now entering the school to think that the school has always been so institutional as the old students go out they do it with concern for those entering and are trying their best to make it a pleasant place for the new in closing those who are still going to the high school want those who are leaving to know that their attempts have been appreciated and they will be remembered fondly so to all those who are leav ing we wish them all the best in their new adventures job search seminar for students set a creative job search seminar will be held at the whitchurch- stouffville public library on wednesday june 14 from 7 to 8 pm the seminar is aimed at high school and university students and is free of charge it is being sponsored by the markham student manpower centre reunion a success the 2nd annual hood reunion family of the late george and mae hood was held at the home of aylmer and peggy hood on sunday june 4 those attending included clarence and velma hood and family herb and gwen hood and family aylmer and peggy hood and family and family members of the late dorothy hood and fred timbers next year the reunion we be held at the home of clarion and barbara hood listowel united way picks chairman the united way of york region has named richmond hill resident cam smith as its annual fundraising campaign chairman smith has set his goals for campaign 89 and they are quite optimistic he is aiming to raise 22 million which is a half- million dollars more than last years 17 million its a tough goal but with nearly 40 community organiza tions relying on us were going to try our hardest to reach it com mented smith heading a fundraising cam paign is a new experience for smith but he certainly is capable of the responsibility after a career in banking for 43 years and a second career as a banking consultant as well as being a dedicated volunteer to many organizations for many years although campaign 89 doesnt start until sept 18 smith is hard at work reviewing the 40 member agencies to determine how much money each will receive and set ting individual goals for each municipality su
