a8 lkibtjvfcafku51389 respected stouffville resident the many friends and relatives of howard st john gathered at oneill funeral home recently to mourn the loss of a wellloved and active member of the community mr st john was born on the uxbridge town line on oct 27 1909 and was a student at stouff ville high school in 1939 he mar ried mary crosier and took over the family farm from his father william he farmed there until around 1966 when he moved to glad park avenue in stouffville he started out in dairy farm ing later becoming a market gardener he loved to get involv ed in community activities and was a keen participant in both lawn bowling and alley bowling he was a member of the friend ship club and the silver jubilee club and at one time worked as a volunteer with meals on wheels he was a member of the con gregation at stouffville united church an enthusiastic nature lover mr st john loved to fish both summer and winter when he would go ice fishing he was also an avid bird watcher and built bird houses all around his proper ty he enjoyed working in his back yard and cultivated a beautiful and wellplanned flower garden there the sudden loss of his wife in april 1984 was a great blow to him but with the help of his fami ly and friends he continued to participate in community life un til the last few weeks of his life when he became seriously ill mr st john leaves his son gary of stouffville his daughter diane horvath of ajax great grandchildren stephanie samantha robin gary and luke and sister velma rawson of stouffville service and committal was held in the chapel at oneill funeral home spring interment at stouffville cemetery honored at shower bv evelyn milsted gormley lynda hawkins and terry atkinson were honored at a family shower friday even ing hosted by mr and mrs john hawkins lynda and terry will be married this saturday april 8 in the gormley missionary church congratulations to mr and mrs walter brillinger on the birth of their first grandchild a daughter alicia renee born to alan and shirley davisson of cin- cinatti ohio shirleys parents spent the weekend there mr and mrs mel henderson are home after spending the winter in florida mr and mrs albert yake and family visited with mrs brenda mavor and family at stroud sunday mr and mrs norm carrington have moved to the former campey home margaret paisley had the east removed from her ankle tuesday rev and mrs knight of toron to visited sunday with their son- inlaw and daughter rev and mrs peter gibbins and family mr and mrs mel baker and mr and mrs george yake visited monday with mr and mrs george barrett of gravenhurst mrs floyd winger of minden spent several days with her sisters evelyn milsted and eileen jones camp kahquah near magnetewan is holding its spring festival april 79 activities will include a bake sale a craft sale an auction sale and maple syrup- making demonstrations sv fingers severed bv maiuorie woodland fourth line an unfor tunate accident occurred friday when dale turner had one hand severely injured while at work two fingers and a tip of a third finger were lost he spent two days in oshawa general hospital congratulations to lome and hazel morgason on the arrival of their first grandchild larry and cathy robertson of windsor at the proud parents of a son paul erik hes a grandnephew of harold and gertrude morgason of goodwood young people of goodwood baptist church enjoyed a bus trip saturday to the almira maple syrup festival the popular event attracted close to 50000 visitors our thanks to cam and alice for a container of this famous almira product the annual ham and maple syrup supper will be held this thursday april 6 in the good wood community centre beginn ing at 5 pm tickets arc 8 adults 3 for children under twelve mrs ken hockley will host the april meeting of the baptist womens group april 10 at 730 pm a skit will be prepared on the bible book of esther
