born ger trude winn nov 7 1919 on the uxbridgepickering townline she spent much of her youth in mongolia where she attended public school later she was a student at stouffville high then located on the site of summitview she was introduced to her hus band charles through a mutual friend when she was 19 they were married in 1945 mr and mrs kerswill spent their 44 years of married life on the family farm near stouffville where they raised six children five boys and one girl despite all the work a large family entailed mrs kerswill still found time to enroll in an in come tax course with h and r block she not only handled the books for the family but also pro vided a similar service for local farmers she was a loyal member of the altona womens institute for a period of 51 years she was also a leader in 4h mrs kerswill loved to crochet and knit she made dozens of beautiful doillies that she gave as wedding presents or gifts to relatives and friends she was a perfectionist in her work if she felt a piece wasnt right shed take it apart and begin again as a member in the congrega tion of stouffville united church she taught sunday school and served as a girl guide leader in earlier years she operated her own egg business selling to customers in town mrs kerswill had room in her heart and her home for everyone although she suffered from diabetes she had been in reasonably good health her passing was unexpected she loved the simple things of life said daughter marion like sunday afternoon drives and visits and phone calls from the kids these were the highlights of her life mrs kerswill leaves her hus- band charles five sons lloyd- stan lome roy and reginald one daughter marion jensen a brother walter of leaskdale fif teen grandchildren and close friend gerry mitchell rev wayne reed and rev herb gale officiated at the ser vice march 27 in stouffville united church pallbearers were david winn wayne crowder gene lewis doug kerswiil jim kerswill and john leadbetter
