su late albert boake tribune march 15 1989 a9 a keen poultry fancier several hundred friends and relatives attended oneils funeral home to honor the memory of albert boake one of the communitys best loved and most highly respected individuals i mr boake was born in 1909 on his grandfathers farm at shrub- mount and resided in whitchurchstouffville all his life in 1934 he married margaret mcmullen they lived in stouff ville until 1944 then mov ed to a farm at pine orchard he was well known for his registered herd of guernsey cat tle and on one occasion entered a prize bull at the royal winter fair his enthusiasm for com munity life led him to serve as a school board trustee for several years he also managed hockey and ball teams in the area the boake family later moved from the farm to a bungalow at cedar valley in 1958 mr boake started working for the township of whitchurch where he remain ed until his retirement in 1976 a keen poultry fancier his retire ment gave him the opportunity to pursue bis interest full time he held many distinguished positions including president of richmond hill fair the markham poultry association and the ontario poultry federa tion he was also a director for the royal winter fairs poultry association gaining a reputation as a poultry expert across canada mr boake started many of the top breeders in canada and the united states with his stock that he raised in his own poultry buildings when illness forced him to give up the work son ted took over and has continued to follow in his fathers footsteps mr boake was actively involv ed until about sue months ago and attended the royal winter fair board meeting last fall despite failing health a determined and strong individual he fought cancer to the end and remained at home throughout his illness mr boake leaves his wife margaret of cedar valley a sister miriam shropshire and husband lome of pine orchard daughter pat byer and husband glen of stouffville son ted and wife margaret of
