confident but his performance like most was lacking that manic energy the play cries out for mervyn thomson barb brooks and liz larter all carried off with aplomb the difficult task of mak ing their presence felt in short onescene performances thom son in particular played the fur rier courier with authority and comic flair brooks also did a fine job in co ordinating the costumes like dorothy partridges set they were attractive and nicely de tailed director blamed if the odd one jarred like lady alices peach number and the set didnt quite achieve the look of faded elegance of the drawing room of a dame of the british empire the blame rests squarely with director hosios he was technically careless he allowed the set to be overlit with light spilling out into the audience surely disconcerting for the actors nor was the incidental music in harmony with the plays mood rather than light and sparkly with a hint of mischief it was rather atonal and sombre perhaps these flaws would
