a12 tribune march 23 1988 bvimm true for edis by den1se mejdonald stouffville it will mark the eighteenth time his dream has come true bhrhp on friday may 6 st james presbyterian church will host its annual sacred music night featuring vocal and instrumental selec tions from representatives of stouffvttles various church de nominations it was always my dream but it never really became a reality until i moved to stouffvuie says the programs organizer tribune editor jim thomas according to the rupert avenue resident the original sacred music night occurred back in the 5cs when he was a member in the congregation at st andrews presbyterian church in markham he and erla boyinton planned that service after moving to stouffvuie i decided to try it here that was 18 jearsago and its beengoing strong ever since mr thomas continues planning the service begins in january first i obtain a quartet and build the worship around it most people enjoy quartet music regardless of whether its male female or mixed he says over a period of several months mr thomas visits as many churches in the community as possible this way he discovers what vocal and instrumental talents available then he contacts the people individually hh the cooperations been tremendous he states there are usually representatives from ten local churches i try never to go further afield than markham gormley uxbtidge and claremont at one time or another just about every church in the area has been involved he explains although the date of the service is still more than a month away arrangements are nearly complete some of this years partici pants will include the st james male quartet the st james childrens choir herb gale and debbie mcbride esther powell and stewart mcelroy ron and susan mcmullen ballantraes lawnie wallace altonas wendy williams a trio from the mar kham missionary church debbie mcdermid and wendy black from the unionvule baptist church and more lome boadway will again lead the congregational hymn in addi tion hell team upwith mary grant in a vocal duet for many years jess pike a former stouffvuie area resident led the hymnsing air thomas explains lome boadway has since taken his place and does a marvellous job jim looks on the service as a community event with st james presbyterian church the host i consider stouffvuie as music town ontario says jim this means all kinds of music including sacred many people seem to enjoy it and hopefully receive a blessing from it he concludes
