c4 tribune january 27 1988 s carnival in claremont bingo tonight opens hamlet festival the countdown is on in only a few short hours claremont will commence the first of many activities planned this weekend during the ham lets annual winter carnival beginning at730pm today members of the lioness club will host a bingo night at the community centre interested participants are asked to bring their own chips on thursday carnival con tests will be held at claremont public school during the morn ing followed by a euchre night in the seniors building at 8 pm friday at 630 pm resi dents may gather at the claremont united church where they will take part in a torchlight procession pro ceeding to the community park prizes will also be awarded in a noisemaker com petition scheduled to take place at the same time this in turn will be followed by the official opening of festi vities by mr claremont winter carnival a lioness skating party at 7 pm in the park and a teen dance admission is 5 per person at 8 pm in the community centre festivities on saturday will include a pancake breakfast at the united church from 8 to 930 am a snow sculpture judging at private homes 9 to 930 am and the claremont mile run along old brock road beginning at 1030 am residents and guests are also invited to witness the carniv als parade along old brock road scheduled to begin at 11 am plaques will be presented for the most original most humorous and best overall en tries or they may choose to visit an open house at the royal canadian legion branch 483 from noon until 2 pm and take part in the childrens ice events at the park from 1 to 2 pm followed by public skating from 2 until 3 for the energetic crowd there will be contests games and sleigh rides in the park from 3 to 4 pm followed by a youth versus over35 hockey game from 4 until 5 the evening will commence with the trappers ball to be held at the claremont four seasons country club at 8 pm admission is 25 per couple for more ticket information call 6492950 or 6493367 sunday will see an oldtim- ers hockey game at 11 am in the park followed by cross country skiing and family tobogganing at claremont pub lic school from i to 230 pm a ski reception featuring the czechgrass band will be held at the masonic lodge from 230 until 4 pm with a bean supper at claremont baptist church ending festivities at 6 pm instore stock only sale ends january 31 1988 rlv i vfr
