1 ft stray kitten weejcendjsrj epxtyipr26 workaholic while pastoring a church in the united states a few years ago i met a businessman who was in the opinion of many people the most difficult person to get along with this man had been in busi ness for many years as a matter of fact i believe work was his only pleasure he arrived at his office at about 7 am and stayed there until 9 or 10 in the evening this man worked hard but his outlook on life and his treatment of people left much to be desired he was opinionated and sarcas tic no one at least in his eyes was as efficient as he was the employees tolerated him only because of the monetary gain they received and not because of his encouragement or their loyal ty to him his word was the final authority and no one dared ques tion it at least not in his presence it appeared to me that this mans calling in life was to put people down yet in spite of his harshness and criticism i admired him and sensed a deep quality it was difficult to de scribe but once in awhile as we talked together i would catch a glimpse of another person hidden away behind harsh words words that reflected years of per sonal hurts my belief in this better side was brought to light one day or at least one morning this businessman arrived at his office as usual as he walked up the steps to the door he noticed a little black kitten a homeless stray that no one cared for or wanted at first he ignored it but then noticed that it was blind as he drew closer this desperate blind kitten heard his footsteps and cried out as only a hungry kitten can this rough mans heart was moved by this homeless animal hecarefully picked it up carried it into the office fed it comforted it and later in the day took it to a veterinarian who treated it and told my friend that the blindness was permanent probably caused by someone throwing it out of a moving car locust hill united rev john miller is pleased to announce that childrens sunday school and nursery cordially invites you to attend the induction service for mr allan mclean as youth pastor on sunday september 27 1987 630 pm at unionville public school 300 main st n unionville ontario refreshments to follow from the palpi by rev j william bertrim standard church of america 1 what a change took place over the next few weeks a lot of money was spent on medication etc but soon this once homeless kitten had access to every office and it became a sleek fullgrown black cat a beautiful creature that could be seen purring contentedly on this mans lap while he talked business the kitten was not the only one that changed this hard business man also changed he would stroke the cat smile at it talk to it even the cold atmosphere of the office warmed now employer and employee had something in common this mans real self began to be reveled to me and to others he had been difficult to get along with but we only see the outer man the bible tells us in i samuel 167 man looketh on the outward appearance but the lord looketh on the heart dur ing his earthly ministry jesus often reached out to individuals that we might think had few if any good qualities whatsoever such a man was zacchaeus luke 19110 the people seeing and hearing this tax collector might have felt he would never be reached but jesus knew the heart perhaps this is what the hymnwriter had in mind when he wrote down in the human heart crushed by the temptor feelings lie buried that grace can restore if a homeless kitten can change a person how much more a loving powerful god the village baptist church meeting at john
