tjrubune april 22 1987 postal delivery a hot topic for mp riding constituents id like to discuss a hot topic one that affects all residents of ontario riding some morcso than others namely postal delivery i am well aware of the adjec tives that immediately come to mind when i utter the word cana da post and i can assure you that i ha ve used many myself howev er i thought i should use this opportunity to explain my feel ings on mail delivery service and set the record straight on what i am trying to accomplish for ontario riding residents i receive many letters and calls from my constituents complain ing about canada postthe com plaints range from slow service or late delivery to objections to the installation of supermailboxes on homeowners properties i have often said that if it wasnt for all the problems i receive from canada post i would have half the amount of correspondence to answer continuously from the time i was first elected a member of parliament i have made repre sentation to canada post and the thenliberal government re questing doortodoor delivery for new residential areas in ontario riding i agree that it is not equit able for new homeowners to not receive the same service as that of established neighborhoods and i made this point in the beginning when i first heard of supermail boxes ive been a proponent of alter nateday home delivery for these residents but my suggestions were not agreed upon and in any event the supermailbox concept was already initiated by the pre vious administration at that time as i have said i agree that su permailboxes are certainly a poor alternative to doortodoor de livery however many of my con- sitiuents have agreed this is bet ter service than ha ving to go to the post office to pick up their mail on the other hand i have had complaints from many who do not want a supermailbox located on or near their property each of these complaints is dealt with separately and needless to say achieving an acceptable solution speaking to you scott fennell ontario riding mp hhsbhesbhshsshzbahhshha is a very lengthy and involved process contrary to common belief i appreciate receiving your com ments as it adds fuel to my fight with canada post underscoring the fact that canadians are not and will never be satisfied with this type of service i will continue until i have achieved results satis factory to
