weekender march 7 1987 p5 mailbox problems persist teacher resents correspondence this is an open letter to the chair man of york region roman catho lic school board celeste peliic- cent of the teachers fall into the highest category you make it sound like all teachers will be making 52228 per as a parent and a teacher with year i certainly wish i were your board i take umbrage with the fact that you can send out a letterto parents jan30 with so much mis information when you advise the parents that the board has agreed to teachers demands on pupilteacher ratio ptr you fail to tell them that you have not agreed to reduce class sizes at present i am making 6 per cent less than my counterparts in the york region public school board our school board now ranks 41 out of 52 separate school boards in ontario if you include the public boards i rank even lower on the pay this past semester i taught a you feel free to quote the fact finders report on some issues but dear sir i would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my views relative to snow removal from around super mailboxes letter to the editor feb 14 1987 since we have not experi enced a major snowfall lately it has been impossible to de termine if your publicizing this problem has convinced canada post to take prompt action to ensure super mailbox customers have ready access to their boxes however i would like to take this opportunity to apprise you of another prob lem i have encountered with my super mailbox on march 3 1987 1 arrived home from work and made the trek down to my super mailbox to retrieve my mail to my dismay i discovered that the lock was frozen and despite my efforts which in cluded heating the key the box would not open i returned home and con tacted mr d chan manager at the markham post office and asked him if he had any idea how i could get the mail box open mr chans first re sponse was oh no not another one he then asked for my address and said he would be there in a halfhour i proceeded back to my su per mailbox after a halfhour and found mr chan was already there and had sprayed some chemical on the lock to thaw it out before mr chan left i tried the key in the lock and it did indeed open but my mail was wet and had a strong odor from whatever had been sprayed on the lock i drew this to mr chans attention and he just stood there not knowing what to say upon returning home i found that the contents of several items were so wet the ink had run making reading difficult once again canada post has demonstrated the concern it has for the secondclass citizens who have been sad dled with super mailboxes when will the conservative government wake up and realize that canada post is a public service and not a busi ness and start giving all tax payers the firstclass ser vice we pay for when we put stamps on our mail as it is now mail sent to us secondclass citizens should only have to contain secondclass postage as that is the service we are get ting pat procenko r h s rliico i iljvzlz you fail to quote him when he stated isasfs ss alsms5i- that we should receive parity with class to 38 students i was unable to colleaeues in the dublic board i do any productive group work with our c0uea ln lne p doara a class of this size and i felt the stu- dents suffered from this how dare you talk about teachers salaries and only mention i maximum level when only 15 per you have made me look ridicu lous in front of my community and i resent this madeleine nevins thornhill residents against mailboxes are you fedup with discrimination
