project to proceed stouffville sewer and water capacity fees have been waved for a cluster home develop ment planned for stouffvilles parkview village property the decision was announced monday afternoon following a lengthy incamera committee meeting of whitchurch- stouffville council word was to be relayed to parkview village authorities immediately ward 6 councillor jim sanders said he was concerned about set ting a precedent in this case it really worries me that the next people who come along with a similar proposal are going to ask for the same concessions he said however ward 5s wilf morley called it a compromise situation for both parties and said the de cision will enable parkview to get on with the job the senior citizen project calls for construction of five buildings has been focussed on parkview village a 124unit seniors complex at 70 ninth line south but all the while with little fan fare a 445000 addition has been under construction at parkview home 481 rupert avenue now the work is almost com plete with an open house and re- dedication planried early in 1987 herb diller administrator of parkview home and parkview apartments is pleased the extension primarily to the south and partly to the east spans 1500 square feet it includes a re sident dining room a resident reading room increased office space and a larger laundry room in addition new carpet stated mr betz said some people were paying as high as 700 a month i rent elsewhere until their homes are ready several are planning to get together and write a letter of pro test to the newspaper he stated itll be a beautiful subdivision when finished mr wood said but right now the contractors playing games the work was started last july mr diller said mitchell con struction company of markham had the contract the cost was subsidized by the provincial government residents appreciate the fact they were involved in the project through the choosing of colors and furnishings mr diller explained he praised the cooperation shown by everyone including members of staff they the staff did an exceptional job he said although plagued by inclement weather the contractor is only six weeks behind provid ing this badly needed accom modation is it the federal gov ernment the provincial gov ernment the region or area municipalities the childrens services council of york region is hopeful the jan 24 seminar will provide some answers r- focus will be on the following 1 shortage of assisted housing 2 lack of rental accommoda tion 3 shortage of specialty housing and affordable homes the seminar is open to all who share the concern that a safe healthy affordable home may be only a dream for too many of york regions residents sharron con eludes i accused of cruelty edwin hoover rr 1 stouff- ville will appear in newmarket provincial court june 12 charged with cruelty to an animal the case dating back to jan 16 was scheduled to be heard monday but had to be ad jpuraed due to the length of theyve tasted the adult world with a permanent job and a pay cheque its difficult to return to the clas sroom routine mr bright explains there are many education avenues avail able for the parttime student in cluding night school he says too that the very successful coop education program at sdss is geared to placing students in an adult labor environment he wishes mr dryden had spoken to more teachers and stu dents before making his recom mendations public at least its prompted people to look at it and talk about it he concluded honored by legion stouffville two past- presidents of royal
