stouffville allstar hockey squad defeated bowmanville 61 and a chippy port perry team 81 in recent league games interestingly bowmanville opened the scoring on a-question- able goal at the rcc centre dec 15 stouffville undaunted by the play recollected to score six un answered goals captain jason underwood col lected a hat trick against bowman ville he also set up pointman david showers on a nice rush for another marker jeff cowley notched a goal with the help of linemates brandon pridham and chris barker pridham closed out the scoring after the game team manage ment pointed out that the stouffville players are not retaliating in aggressive situations thereby smartly avoiding shorthanded situations that kind of reasoning was most apparent a few nights later in port perry the host squad went into its intimidating game plan however the clippers were unmoved cowley continued his current scoring streak with two goals bar ker notched a single and under wood jason whitebread and lewis clicked for the remaining markers the peewee boys must continue to play welldisciplined hockey as they prepare to defend their title at the quebec international peewee tournament in february stouffville travels to richmond hill to play in an invitational tournament dec 26 to 30 the local boys look forward to seeing their fans cheer them on quinn saves game stouffville secondary found a sure way to raise money for a good cause the school raised havoc on the ice last tuesday when the teacher ter rors took on the grade 13 pylons in a pure egyptian mares imported continued from bl egyptian arabian mare could be sold for up to 500000 us its because of the blood she explained an arabian horse is the foundation breed of all warm blooded animals generally stal lions from arabia were given as gifts to government heads howev er the mares never left the land cand therefore were never bred pure the lehmanns who have been in the horse breeding business over a decade had started out with a straight egyptian stallion and purebread arabian mare which tjiey purchased in the mid seven ties although the mare had a lot of egyptian blood in her her ancestry fras not a straight line j during the 1985 christmas sea son arlenes husband along with fcoug lunau and the general flew to egypt to inspect horses at the gov ernment stud farm egyptian agricultural organization eao fhe exhorbitant pricelist for the mares discouraged lunau and lehmann who were ready to abhort he venture j according to arlene the men un expectedly received a different list ing of horses the next morning with jnore reasonable rates she sug gested that general eguindys con tacts had something to do with the witch kahkiflue toyotas htiilete- of the week the men chose two fillies which they subsequently named ashwak and bint el wadi monetary de posits were left on the horses and lehmann and lunau returned to canada new years eve because of canadian importation laws the mares had to be flown to the united states where they would be quarantined for 60 days in new york and then held a further 60 days on american soil the lehmanns hired a broker to handle the medical clearance guidelines the blood samples and shipping permits several insur ance companies were contacted rates compared and procedures outlined the blood samples came back from egypt and ashwak checked out fine however the second vial leaked and a test could not be run on the other horse with the scheduled importation date quickly approaching the lehmanns franti cally worked to get the second blood test approved on july 8th 1986 arlene lehmann flew down to new york checked into a hotel and at 630 am caught the first glimpse of her new mares which were being unloaded at jfk airport and transported to quarantine four months later on nov 11th the fillies made it to their new stouffville home with this first mission accom plished the lehmanns are already planning for another importation from egypt at least they know what theyre up against the next time around said arlene hockey game at the rec centre although the contest ended in a 44 tie the game really belonged to the teachers who overcame a 42 deficit to salvage the draw still the entire event belonged to the students of sdss who raised 500 via game tickets to give to york region family services we all felt good because we were helping someone other than ourselves said physed head dave connell who hinted that a re match was already being whis pered around the school it was teacher quick quinn who banged home the third and fourth goals to spoil what the student pylons thought was a sure win cool connell and slick smallwood added the other markers for the teacher terrors eric beam 2 jon petrie and de rek mann scored goals for
