r aser faaotoo jjsraimh3aw p24 weekender october 25 1986 st roberts unique event for gd 12s by nancy sgro years from now when the class of 86 are reminiscing about those good old high school days the first thing to come to mind will most like ly be our unique grade 12 gradua tion which took place last weekend needless to say it was an event well never forget although the actual ceremony was scheduled for sunday october 19th the students decided to start our celebrating a bit early on friday october 17th a din nerdance was held for all the gra duating students at la gondala banquet hall organized by tracey britt ana cunha lisa spadacini and lisa ugolini the event proved to be quite a success as students partied well into the night even when the music was turned off a polite way to say the party was over students decided to provide our own entertainment with the help of andrew veltri and his accoustic guitar the place came alive as we broke into a raunchy version of what else the beatles classic twist and shout after having a day to recover it was back to some serious business for the graduates as the following sunday proved to be quite an event ful day at 930 am the graduates and their parents assembled at the school to celebrate mass with our resident chaplain rev wilfred mcaneney then it was off to the chimo hotel where we were treated to a com munion brunch after bur relaxing meal it was back to the school to be fitted for our lovely brown gowns and to pre pare for the procession soon after we made our grand en trance into the gym filled with ador ing parents teachers and promin ent members of the york region rcss board for our formal gra duation ceremony formal well almost after an opening welcome from our principal david lennon we were greeted by the vicechairman of the school board gino rosati and the executive director of the catholic high school commission leo j dupuis josie schwarzli the former dean of the art department was appointed to address this years graduation class however her speech was temporarily inter rupted by the malfunctioning mic rophone while the problem was being cor rected the graduates sought to find a way to amuse themselves during the delay music director george placewicz seemed to find the answer to our problems as he then proceeded to lead the band in a rous ing 60s medley being the enthusiastic students we were all of us then jumped to our feet and to everyones surprise and delight we began to dance and how we danced all over the gym for that matter then it was time for peter bahen and allan mackey to introduce each grad while david lennon pre sented us with our diplomas as the ceremony neared the end our two valedictorians marco magarelli and norma mammone took us on a trip down memory lane thanks are extended to all the teachers and students who assisted in various ways to make this gra duation such a successful and memorable event included in this list are mary palleschi peter bahen gerald grimes catherine mcdavid bruno rovere katherine kelly father mcaneney janice sirna margaret kenny george placewicz the concert band joseph visconti mark capone paul mccann bernard harkin all mckey nancy fejes pat fivineau carol santagato davies norma mammone and louisa dirienzo and the present the great pumpkin col draw color the pumpkins face fill in the ballot with your name address age telephone number cut out the whole ad take it to the ballot box at infoplace in markville age categories 06 610 1012 1216 name address age phone entries must be in the ballot box by wednesday oct 27th at noon there will be 3 winners chosen from each category winners will be notified by phone all winners will receive a 1000 markville gift certificate good luck
