ta2 tribune october 22 1986 multi- talented man greenwood milton n pegg of greenwood was all things to all people he was a teacher a farmer an artist and a musician he was a writer and an histo rian he was a church elder and a sunday school superintendent he was an avid hunter and fisherman he was a devoted husband and father he was a friend at his passing oct 4 milton pegg left a legacy that will be re membered into the future as long as it was appreciated in the past mr pegg died at his home on greenwood road following two years of declining health he was 91 born in north dakota nov 1 1894 the son of andrew and essie pegg he resided for a short time in manitoba then moved with his parents to rr 2 claremont as a teacher his first school was on the 7th cone of pickering later he accepted a teaching position at the burwash indust rial farm where he remained six years mr peggs real love was farm ing the property immediately east of the claremont conserva tion area is now owned by bill mcavoy and previous to that by exleaf hockey star bob baun milton and betty pegg and family resided there 40 years prior to entering the teaching profession mr pegg served as a pilot with the rcaf overseas during world war i milton pegg was a pillar of strength within the congregation of greenwood united church he served as sunday school superin tendent many years also as elder he was an historian without equal in the area he completed the pegg family history dating back to the 1600s he was president and a director on the board of the claremont co operative association always an avid sportsman he enjoyed both hunting and fishing fall trips into the north country were always looked forward to with much anticipation photo albums allow his wife and family to relive those memories milton pegg was a talented musician for years he was a member of the claremont citizens band and the pegg fami ly orchestra he played the coronet the violin and the piano in addition he was a skilled artist several of his beautiful paintings hold positions of prom inence in their home rev sharon patterson of greenwood united church touched on many of these attri butes at a service oct 7 in the cemetery surviving besides his wife are three sons edward and alfred of greenwood joseph of oshawa four brothers lloyd of orillia william of stouffville george of claremont and edgerton of greenwood three sisters essie mrs rod appleby pickering alice mrs bertan wilson oril lia and mildred mrs charles mctaggart greenwood four grandchildren ruth mrs harold vale of sunderland di ana john and steven
