complaint dear editor i would like to inform you of a problem im having concerning the school bus route of the chil dren in the greenpark subdivi sion i would like the public to know in case they have a similar problem i live on linden lane in stouffville presently the school bus can only pick up and drop off children at the corner of hemlock and millard upon checking with the town i found out the roads alderwood greenwood and lin den lane are classified by the town as being unassumed roads greenpark must care for these roads example snowremoval they did an excellent job last win ter at hemlock and millard the bus drops off approximately 25 children ranging in ages from 5 to 13 my main concern is children walking on an area of road on mil lard in front of school board prop erty which has no sidewalk mil lard can be quite busy due to con struction vehicles and other traf fic i contacted the orchard park school principal and harry bowes our school trustee and both felt that the area could be made safer for children with addi tion of sidewalks or a gravel walk on the boulevard pat muir our town clerk was very helpful in explaining unassumed roads to me in fact she was able to get greenpark to commit to putting a walkway in for the children shortly i still have some questions though and have run into some problem with mr morley at the york regional school board i wanted to know why the bus could not come closer for the children he refuses to think of the situa tion he feels that linden lane is not a safe street not fully occu pied and still under construction i suggested he come and see the area as he was mistaken and could be looking at a different street he refused saying he was not wrong i was told the reason the separate school had a bus coming into the area was because the church paid for it i was told our tax dollars do not cover school buses and that the bus is a pri vilege i was also told that de finitely no school bus that he puts out would go on an unassumed road i followed bus route 15 on september 18 as it travelled along an unassumed road hemlock at aspen across tohwy 47 dropping children off and then the bus turned north past the auction barns why can the bus do this when it cannot go to linden lane mr morley please dont tell me again that the bus driver makes up hisher own route im sure this route isnt to your knowledge is it
