pumpkin this unselfish grade 12 stu dent at gw williams secon dary school is giving of her sav ings in support of a child in haiti wendys our girl next doort the project all started after wendy and boyfriend chris toole of vandorf road visited haiti in a program sponsored by habitat for humanity and wesley united church they couldnt believe the poverty it made me feel like i had too much wendy said each month she and chris send eighteen dollars 9 each to the family of their adopted girl they feel good about it its something ive wanted to do for a long time explains wendy some day she hopes to return to haiti and perhaps meet her new found friend shes also anxious for more people to learn about the program a graduate of whitchurch- highlands school wendys the daughter of lindon and dona williams she has a brother ro ger 20 an extremely active girl wendys working towards her provincial honors 12 projects in the pine orchard 4h club she was the catcher this sum mer with the vandorf fastball team sponsored by wesley res taurant on woodbine avenue she has her grade 7 piano and works parttime at fabricland in newmarket shes a member in the con gregation of wesley united church wendy loves softball so much she even attended prac tices with one hand in a cast she broke a finger last summer durihga play at the plate worse than that the umpire seventeenyearold wendy williams st johns sideroad whitchurchstouffville turns over a portion of her monthly earn- ingsto assist a little girl in haiti she belongs to an organization called habitat for humanity that has as its goal helping the less fortunate in third world countries jim thomas called her safe she said with a smile she recovered sufficiently to finish the season wendy acquired the job at fabricland after seeing a help wanted sign in the door the manager was once a 4h leader and that helped she said she enjoys it there she also enjoys drama at wil liams she played a lead role in peter pan the part of wendy of course two years ago and last year directed the play tom sawyer french and art are favorite subjects wendy also enjoys music in addition to piano she can pick out a tune on the guitar at whitchurchhighlands she played the clarinet last january she sang in a musical at st andrews col lege aurora shes also sung on several special occasions at church j student fall fashions show variety even wear ing ties she noted kerrie was attractive in an eyecatching blue knitted skirt with an acrylic lop skirts are being worn a lot more said jenny pritzker of grade 10 the lengths she said range from very short to very long both skirts and jeans are popu lar including short jean skirts said diana while of grade 11 di ana was wearing a comfortable powderblue track suit and jean jacket when interviewed in the hall practically anything re plied lisa buchanan of grade 10 when asked whats popular this mam- j lucy elliott left and lisa boyd both of grade 13 at stouffville dist secondary
