cultural society flower show scoring most points overall was jean painter prize for most points decorative went to ma rion housser and most points specimen vera clarkson the red ribbon for best basket was won by alice vague glen- dyne monreal entered the grand champion glad and delia paisley had the best entry other than glads her exhibit of sweetpeas caught the judges eye alice vague also won best arrange ment there were 24 entries in the childrens class top girl was shelley painter top boy was phillip pugh this was to have been the final year for the rev douglas davis rose award since no entries qual ified it will be carried over into 1987 the stouffviue horticultural flower show is recognized as one of the best in ontario the society president this year is lillian carr ninth line south tribune sponsors terry fox run in an effort to further publicize the terry fox run and encourage greater participation the tri bune is cosponsoring the event in both whitchurchstouffville and at old edgcley in the twp of vaughan at age seven her parents moved to a farm prop erty at dufferin street and the carrvillc road later she and her husband lived in rich mond hill mr hercher passed away in 1977 i couldnt have a better place mrs hercher says of her cozy apartment just out side her eastview window is a garden of beautiful flowers also a feeder for the birds although she spent three weeks last year in york cen tral hospital richmond hill mrs hercher has made an ex cellent recovery a longtime member in the congregation of heise hill church her father abraham winger was a pastor there mrs hercher attends services as often as possible walter hill or martha wideman pro vide the transportation i usually go with one and come home with the other she says with a smile in the centre of the living room table arc dozens of cards and bouquets of flowers i know most of the people here she says naming many of the folk residing on the two floors almost every afternoon beulah
