ward mashinter main street west stouffville mr mashinter suffered a frac tured pelvis and several broken ribs although fully conscious when admitted to scarborough centenary hospital pneumonia set in he passed away july 13 mr mashinter was 81 born at weston the son of lawrence and elizabeth mashin ter mr mashinter was a coowner in the firm of l m lumber at leaside he later purchased a hobby farm at milliken where he marketed fruit and vegetables howard and edna mashinter enjoyed their winter holidays in florida a vacation spot for the past 16 years shuffleboard was a favorite sport i serious water problems dear jim through the tribune we wish to thank the people of ballan trae for support in our appeal to town council for updated water information unfortunately we came away from the meeting with very little nor did we obtain a date for a fu ture public meeting through our own endeavors and with the assistance of con cerned residents outside the bal- lantrae area weve learned the water study is now complete and a meeting is possible in the near future we want residents of the com munity to appreciate our problem concerning water contamination it may not only be road salt but other chemicals as well we are urging the ballantrae people to please turn out when the next meeting is called to arrive at a permanent solu tion we need to obtain the neces sary information and teacher on the staff of stouff ville christian school has retired after a long and successful career a luncheon in her honor will be held at stouff villes deer park inn july 29 born in the united states ruth and ed herbert moved to canada in 1953 shes the mother of four and grandmother of one her eldest son timothy is a property manager in acton david an attorney from dallas texas accompanied by wife dianna and son zachary 2 are currently visiting in stouffville rebecca lives in denver colorado and esther attends university in oklahoma city okalahoma with their family spread so far apart its little wonder mr and mrs herbert intend to move to florida this fall after spending time on the founding committee of the christian school mrs herbert taught english and drama there five years ive always enjoyed teaching she says after 42 years its difficult to leave previously mrs herbert taught at stouffville dist secondary school she worked both full and parttime she was also a supply teacher 15 years all members of her family are graduates of sdss mrs herbert has enjoyed being a student herself she has three degrees to her credit shes a graduate of peoples bible college in colorado springs york university and the university of toronto mr herbert recently retired from his position as math depart ment head at newmarket high school he was on the staff there 24 years my husbands early retirement was the incentive for me to retire mrs herbert said its time for us to do things together teaching is a rewarding career she continued its exciting to see students faces light up you realize youre inspiring them to enjoy what theyre learning i enjoyed tremendous support from all members of staff and the students have been great mrs herbert concluded we reserve the
