force mr mackay says he studies both sides of an issue often ap plying viewpoints gained from his athome philosophy studies be fore developing an opinion the issues he is most concerned with are resource depletion the preservation of wildlife and the destruction of tropical rain forests an admitted pessimist he says he doubts mans treatment of his environment threatened by ex cessive use of resources and des tructive chemicals will ever improve to the point necessary to save it we are lessening the capabil ity of the environment to sustain life he said i think there will be great social strife in the fu ture as more and more of our re sources are depleted despite his vision of the future mr mackay concedes some com panies are making progress people are looking more holis- tically at
