tribune may 14 1986 a13 six 4h members were honored saturday when york south held its spring achievement day at the victoria square community centre recipients of pins for completing six projects were left to right dianne beckett unionville tammy yake and bonnie ste wart bethesda marlene brown and diana culver stouffville ii and heather wideman bethesda jim thomas achievement day 4h leaders are honored victoria square leaders awards adding up to 51 years were presented saturday at a york south 4h achievement day in the victoria square community hall ann hankinson home economist for the regions of york and durham was in charge recognized for leadership spanning 35 years was agnes foster of south vaughan ten years esther powell stouffville ii ave years lorraine beckett unionville and one year joyce dening also of unionville pins were presented to 4h members completing six projects recipients were tammy yake heather wideman and bonnie stewart bethesda marlene brown and diana culver stouffville ii dianne beckett unionville the mornings program was hosted by unionville with lynne beckett the master of ceremonies the theme was milk makes it participating clubs and their leaders were unionville lor raine beckett joyce dening bethesda i jean yake sandra hall stouffville i barbara lintner pat irwin stouffville ii esther powell lillian davidson south vaughan agnes foster pauline stewart temperanceviue cindy phillips marilyn beynon ballantrae school student actors thrill audience l by jim thomas pballantrae it was more than a music night at ballantrae public school it was a two- evening performance of music and theatre a student event une qualled in instrumental vocal 2nd acting talent ithe concert and twoact play called mirrormirror lasted two hours however for parents it cquld have doubled in time they enjoyed every minute while each segment the band the choir and the play was an im portant part the stage theatrics a 1986 version of snow white and the seven dwarfs stole the spot light the acting was excellent the singing lovely and the cos- fumes beautiful unfortunately on several occasions wednes day the spoken words died past the sixth row of seats forcing those in the rear of the gymna sium to lipread what the actors and actresses were saying un doubtedly the sound volume was intensified thursday 5 roles performed by all in the cast were perfectly selected corina wilson snow white carolyn mckeen the wicked queen michael pongraczthe woodsman and jeff brettell the mirror u colorful troubadors in- cludededith coates liane beam kelly sheridan and sara burdon their stage presence in dicated weeks of practice just as professionalwere the counsel lorstravis white megan butch- r and jonathan cowley and the guardsmichelle reid todd wawryk kristy saundersand michael greathead the seven dwarfs took evcry- pne by surprise theirs were not storybook roles common to us all but rather updated versions handled expertly by each of the characters les hartai doc paul winger skeptic tom bur- zuk vibes jason schellenburg keys debbie sansom chords megan morrison strings and greg spytz dopey the directors were donna friedbacher joan wideman and bill fender the pianist was lin da hollin mrs friedbacher and miss wideman also led the jr choir mr bender directed the band leader of the french choir was rhonda malchiondo the directors praised the co operation of parent helpers and teaching staff they called it a community effort organize i cleanup campaign stouffville better late than never whitchurchstouff villes spring cleanup will be held the first day of summer june 21 its called pitchin 86 the campaign will begin at 9 am and continue through to 12 noon participants are asked to meet at the old arena park drive south various town service clubs are arranging helpers the chamber of commerce is providing the food and home support services is cooking the lunch chief organizers of pitchin 86 are mayor fran sainsbury and former councillor bob lewis i id on our already reduced prices selected items springtime is fun time its the merry month of may feeling merry here are melanic knox right of cam fella boulevard stouffville and friend tam my mino of thornhjji both nine hanging upsidedown is a lot more fun than righlsidenp the girls agree jim thomas take advantage of our complete decorating service thekdufmanfurnituregallery 4715353 270 wellington street west hwy 7 just east of mccowan
