first time the ux bridge zoo has competed in the national exhibition series the senior boys squad placed 10th out of 1g teams last year not a very impressive finish however schwan promises his female ti gers will do a lot better based on what i saw last year in the girls tournament in edmonlon our team has an ex cellent chance of winning the championship predicted the coach weve got 27 games be hind us for the season my kids have been running for the last two weeks after exams were going out there with the attitude were going to win it schwans words dont come cheap his team has already won the lossa lake ontario secon dary school championship this season and it boasts a 207 win- loss record as well the girls almost clinched the central ontario final in november however lindsay weldon escaped with a slim 5352 decision as painful as that loss was its history now and schwans mind is on edmonton the tourney will be governed by international rules including a 30 second clock that means slow methodical teams not accustomed to quick break outs will have a rough time for tunately the tigers arc anything but slow itll be a faster game said schwan the ball is never touched by the referee in the de fensive end the defensive team will need quick reactions to cover the fast breakouts and the off ence has only 30 seconds to take a shot my kids like lo run schwans star veteran didnt hesitate to second that motion were out there to have fun and we play our best when we run boasted towering centre audra goeree with strong pointguards like dawn stewart and traccy para- dine and gocrces presence the tigers should have a good chance against the traditionally tough acts from british columbia the tigers are guaranteed three games out west however the weeks itinerary is packed with banquets a national cheer- leading competition and of course a trip to the famous west edmonton mall the team has raised 2500 by washing cars painting fences organizing dances and helping out local service clubs note during the competi tion an oshawa radio station 1350 am on your dial will run a tiger update on the 5 pm news schwan and the team extend ihcir appreciation to the uxbridge
