weekender january 18 1986 p29 leblanc in chicago to work on gere film claremontarea hairstylist paul leblanc is now on location in chicago working on actor richardgeres latest and as-yet- untitled film after that segment of the shoot tentatively called the new orleans project wraps up tues day leblanc and the rest of the cast and crew move on to new orleans filming eventually winds up in north carolina the movies subject matter of drugs and organized crime is a departure for the 39yearold leb lanc who won an 1984 academy award for makeup on that years best picture amadeus hes handling hair design for the gere picture another honor came his way in 1985 in the form of the academy of canadian cinemas special achievement genie award for both makeup and hair design on march 20 hell return to the genie stage to present one of the canadian film statuettes mr leblanc who lives in a stu diocountry retreat east of claremont returned to his native new brunswick last summer to work on the movie children of a lesser god with william hurt while in that province the area resident was honored with a fel lowship established in his name as a hairstylist and makeup artist to the stars mr leblanc works with a virtual whos who of the hollywood film industry his colleagues include ellen burstyn who is such a fan of mr leb- lancs she flew him to los angeles from toronto to do her hair for an academy award pre sentation a list of his other star clients includes bette davis angela lansbury tom hulce murray abrahams mickey rooney teri garr sally field charles bron- son lee marvin richard cham berlain lee grant brooke adams diane keaton lucy gut- teridge and angie dickinson new manager at mr grocer store shoppers at markhams mr grocer may have noticed a new face in the store dennis eliopoulos is the wel lington st stores new manager he started in november before goming to markham mr eliopoulos was the manager at the dominion store at danforth ave and main st in scarborough hes worked with dominion for the past 12 years although still new to markham mr eliopoulos said hes getting to know the community very quickly im enjoying it very much he said its fantastic the peo ple are very friendly setting the rural landscape on stouff- villes outskirts takes on a spe cial quality during the winter this snowcapped creek on 19th ave west of the 10th line is an example of the picturesque scenery thatll be in plentiful supply for the next few months chris shahahan library happenings dinosaurs at the library jim lovisek and dinosaurs alive are at the unionville lib rary this morning mr lovisek will bring in lizards a crocodile a snake a turtle and other live crea tures as well as dinosaur fossils the show is for children age six and up and begins at 1030 am at the markham library pup- petmongers powell present wali- dad the grass cutter admission to the show is 2 it also begins at 1030 this morning and is suitable for children at least six years of age next saturday the markham library is holding a monster bash featuring films and crafts while the unionville branch will hold a workshop with conifers and con es children age six and up can make strange creatures with con es advance registration is re quired next tuesday parents can help their children manage study time at a seminar at unionville lib rary the course presented by seneca college will teach parents to help their children make more efficient use of study time the course begins at 7 pm and has a 20 registration fee to reg ister contact the colleges mar kham information centre at 491- 5050 ext 4200 tools stolen hand power tools valued at 6000 were recently stolen from three vehicles belonging to maker mechanical service ltd on steel- case rd in the towns industrial area according to police the vehi cles were broken into between jan 8 at 10 pm and jan 9 at 7 am thc baiou trail vrioe- i trail if stopping centre- as iflhwiy no a potpourri of fashion 4773400 33 the bridle trail unionville hours mon wed and sat 706 thurs fri 103
