of home support services jean was first invited to serve as a volunteer with home support by her predecessor betty courage rr 4 stouffville jim thomas by jim thomas stouffville seven teen months ago when jean anderson of lemonville rr 4 stouffville signed up as a volunteer with home sup port services she had no idea shed become the organiza tions next coordinator thats now her position successor to betty courage also of stouffville rr 4 it was personal contact by mrs courage that prompted jean to initially become in volved that was back in april 1984 later when betty was taken ill jean carried on it was almost automatic she continue in this role when bet ty resigned home support performs many services one impor tant function is providing seniors with homehelp so they can remain in their resi dences longer in this regard the office receives more than 100 calls a month transporta tion is also vital jean ex plains whether its downtown to the bank or a doctor or to toronto for a medical appoint ment home support present ly has 15 drivers but more are required jean an extremely pleasant person is a reg istered nurse having gradu ated from wellesley hospital toronto and the university of western ontario london she has served on various hospital staffs including wellesley queen elizabeth and toronto general jean is loud in her praise of the service and the volun teers our homehelpers are high calibre she says she describes the handinhand program organized by jim rehill of the high school staff as a great asset jean says she enjoys work ing with seniors shes main
