department were honored for long servicefred gibson left 17 years and walter pattenden centre 31 years presentations of longservice pins and town crests were made by road superintendent ron gibson jj thomas enjoyed every minute former mayor guest of honor stouffville the former village of stouffville is facing a sewage capacity crisis when the maximum volume is reached buildup will grind to a halt according to mayor tom wood the only solution is a return to septic tanks on this score however some members of council are wary and so is the public health branch of the region of york its either septic tanks or stagnation mayor wood told the tribune he ex plained that even if the dis posal plant was enlarged nor more effluent could be emptied into duffin creek mayor wood favors septic tank systems he suggests however that underground services should be in readi ness when a more perma nent solution is found mayor wood says his own property is on septic tank and hes experienced no appreciation for the opportunity to serve the town i enjoyed every mi nute of it he slated not everyone mr king explained is afforded the same chance that had come his way ill continue to serve my fellow man as long as i can accepting certain respon sibilities are sometimes selfish decisions the former mayor said even when the end result is service to others mr king described his new position as enjoyable but very different he said the decision to move on was made easier by the fact he was satisfied with past accomplishments he thanked town employees and members of council for their cooperation the guest of honor was accorded a standing ova tion carol sing stouffville a community carol sing will be held friday dec 21 in the town square from 7 to 830 pm the concert orga nized by regions public health branch closed the bathing areas in 1983 and again in 1984 after high bac teria levels were found in the water to erect safety guardrail stouffville with the cooperation of
