objects to store proposal uxbridge twp a convenience store proposal for the hamlet of coppins corners met stiff opposition from an ad joining propertyowner at a public meeting thursday as long as i live there i dont want it the store there objector murray coppins told planning and development committee members i think we have enough confu sion around the corner now trafficwise and other the session concerned a proposed zoning bylaw amendment under the planning act as well as a change to the coppins corners development plan zoning would have to move from hamlet residentiaho hamlet commercial in order for tony ranf t to open a convenience store on his property at the northwest corner of the intersection of regional roads 21 and 1 he plans to eventually construct a 1500 square foot addition to the existing building among mr coppins concerns are loss of privacy increased litter and higher noise levels however mr ranft said he feels the noise situation can be controlled a large cedar hedge would block out sounds com ing from the store so it wouldnt disturb neighboring residents he said mr coppins also feels there simply isnt enough space to develop on mr ranfts ad joining lands i definitely dont think he has enough room for what he wants to do mr coppins said during the meeting another major worry is that the stores proposed driveway would be be situated next to mr coppins well risking con tamination we used to live in the country but i guess we dont anymore mr coppins noted mayor bill ballinger said he feels cop pins corners is a prime candidate for such an outlet considering it has a large subdi vision nearby i think every hamlet should have some form of convenience the mayor said mr ranft was requested to revise his de velopment plan addressing the various points of concern discussed at thursdays meeting the planning and development committee would then be able to proceed with a decision he was told there are still tickets available for the
