community life including municipal politics where he served as a councillor and deputyreeve but most of all he was a professional plowman a skill thats become a family tradition in 1937 he competed in the un ited states and won the north american championship later after winning the ontario title he travelled to england in 194647 making the trip over on the queen elizabeth and returning on the queen mary over a period of years he collected many awards some of which are now on display at the markham museum on retirement from active competition he served as a judge both at local and in ternational matches for many years he was secretarytreasurer of the north york branch for all his interest in the past fred tim bers never lost sight of the future he was always willing to lend a helping hand to young plowmen within his own family cir cle and beyond following retirement in 1965 mr tim bers moved from the farm on the 7th con cession to main street east stouffville for a time he drove a school bus and assisted with caretaking chores at park view he later became a fulltime custo dian there and was as wellknown around the home as any of the residents hed been in declining health since christmas a member in the congregation at dick sons hill missionary church he later attended at the christian church and more recently the gormley missionary church often he provided transportation for park view friends wishing to attend services at gormley besides his wife the former dorothy hood he is survived by two sons george and carl both of stouffville a daughter ruth mrs keith clarke of vineland and eight grandchildren rev grant sloss of markham mission ary church led in the service monday from the oneill funeral chapel with rev sparks bringing the message rev and mrs
