residents in the goodwood community centre at 730 pm ux- bridge township is holding the meeting so residents can have input into the proposed projects for the ontario neighborhood improvement program the claremont lions club annual christmas variety concert was held sunday afternoon in the community hall with standing room only carl young cted as master of ceremonies and welcomed everyone to the show rick johnson and the county band opened the show with a number of christmas songs rick even ventured out into the audi ence and had a num ber of the small chil- dren singing along jay provis was act number two with her jazz routine next on the agenda were children from the claremont nursery school who were dressed in lit tle red costumes singing a number of songs lynn marie benson played her guitar and sang dont let you babies grow up to be cow boys followed by the claremont cuties in their long underwear karen carson who for a number of years has performed her tap dance was next the claremont mini beats directed by colin marsh per formed with their instruments playing a number of songs little emily marks did the highland fling followed by ruth and julie mur ray singing one tin soldier ruth asked the audience to help out by making the sounds of a horn and rene rennie who remembered her girl guide training always be pre pared supplied the appropriate sound local girl wins award by jennie johnson glen major mr and mrs joe johnson and daughter anne were guests of the whitby chamber of commerce during their annual dinner meeting nov 23 at the meeting awards were presented to out standing members of the community anne johnson an honor graduate from anderson collegiate was chosen student of the year for whitby the award was presented by president don fnse the glen major ladies auxiliary met at the home of isobel dixon on thursday for a potluck luncheon at noon followed by their christma meeting jennie johnson led the devotions using discipleship as the theme monies were dispersed and con tributions made to helen parrott and rev norman gibson for missionary support the uxbridge salvation army the bible society and the uxbridge cottage hospit- al auxiliary the officers elected for 1984- 85 were president isobel dixon vice- president clara jones secretary jennie johnson and treasurer lila faulkner the carol service at pine grove church will be held tuesday dec 13 at 8 p m rev frank vanderzwan will bring the mes sage the chalmers church choir will assist with christmas numbers jason and ginny vanveghel will sing and heather bell will play the flute on sunday mr and mrs joe johnson of brooklin visited his mother jennie john son other visitors to the johnson glen echo farm were jack johnson rae john son and son billy ripley anne rice of oshawa was with farest pugh and myrtle todrow saturday william sauter is resting at home follow ing his release from uxbridge cottage hos pital mr sauter works with artifical limbs and he is much involved with champs and child amputees we hope for a good re covery mr and mrs edward jones of newmar ket visited with her brother edgar fiss sunday mr and mrs ossie gill and daughter vi sited withher mother margaret searle of toronto saturday womens group holds herb lecture by elsie boland goodwood womens institute members from the district filled the good wood community hall thursday guest speaker was mrs otto richter of good wood she spoke on herbs and their use in cooking one minute of silence was observed in memory of wilhemine car- ruthers of sandford the united church sunday school pot- luck supper and concert is friday dec 16 at 630 pm funds are required to start cub beaver and boy scout packs in goodwood anyone wishing to assist is asked to call john mcmaniman at 6401781 the senior
