name in the world of competitive sports i although much praise should be given to the school teams and coaches there is onespecial team that deserves an extra note of n thanks i am refer- ring to the schools athletic associa tion the athletic asso ciation is a gijup of students who work behind the scenes of most sports activi- ties and in general encourage school spirit they are re sponsible for the organization pub licity and promotion of intercollegiate sports the association is composed of six stu- dents maria aquino tom hig- gins loris lazzer edith meuller katbysemenzin and martha stong these students were individually selected by ms de- veaux physical education the groups staff advisor the requirements for being a member of the association are the applicant must have an st robert contactithe local newspapers with the results of the games they arrange buses to take students to games to cheer our teams on they hold athletic assemblies and civies days and they assist in the co ordination of the yearbooks sports section the association holds a number of social functions dur ing the school year there is an athletic dance in december which helps to pay for sports equip ment and expenses there are two athle tic masses one in fall and one in win ter for the school teams the largest social of the year held in may is the athletic banquet a dinner and dance for all the athletes of the school and their guests there are awards speeches and a slide show which highlights the year of sports at st roberts the asso ciation is responsi ble for this entire event such
