glen major community lost two wellknown and highlyrespected re sidents in the recent passing of bessie pickett sept 1 and her husband george alvin pick ett sept 21 f mrs pickett the former mary eli zabeth mcconneu was born at tillson- burg dec 25 1896 daughter of mr and mrs george mccon- nell she entered the teaching profession and in 1917 came to glen major school where she remained until her marriage to george pickett oct 12 1920 mrs picketts life touched all areas of the community and beyond she was keenly interested in the education sys tem and was a well- read person who shared her know ledge she was ac tive in the work of glen major church serving as organist and a teacher in the sunday school many years she was an active mem ber of the glen ma jor church ladies auxiliary holding the office of presi dent she was also a member of the ml zion ucw and honored with a life membership pin rev am butler of mt zion united church conducted the service from the low low funeral
