people attended the leagues annual awards night stouffvilles youth bowling league held its annual awards and presentation night at latcham hall on friday evening attracting over 150 enthusiastic young bowlers and their supporters master of ceremonies for the occasion was the leagues hard working organizer john tait who in addition to making the awards helped organize the event thanking everyone for their strong sup port throughout the season john made a presentation of hanging flower baskets to the leagues strongest supporters the score keeping mums before going on to the main awards big winners diggers 94 stealing no less than eight bases in nine attempts vicki moffat led the stouffville attack with four singles batting 1000 while michele keith was 2 for 3 at the plate denise coppins debbie coxworth and bard goudie gave the stingers a 31 lead in the first with terry cummings counting in the second third innings runs cams from moffat kathy wilkins and ruth beckett closing off the third with a 72 lead aurora added two more runs in the seventh but were outclassed by the hungry stingers who finished the eighth with runs from moffat and ruth vollet sharing mound duties were mary albright and julia drew the stingers intermediate finalists last season have ten of their veteran squad back this year and have moved up into the senior division well known faces on the bench are san dy ramer ann holden may allbright joyce adams julia drew kathy wilkins liz lacoursiere ruth becket barb goudie and michele keith new to the squad are denise coppins cheryl grand slam singleton debbie coxworth jannette cooper dawn voss terry cummings vicki moffat mary zet- tell and ruth vollet coaches cliff dunkeld and joe barber are back with the welcome addition of frank hendy frank is certain to bea big boost to the team having coached several claremont teams to championship status the team is slotted into the metro league and plays home fixtures on wednesday night at 830 pm sponsors this year areschell lumber stouffville legion branch 459 stouffville district credit union and george ross photo bowling banquet members of the legion ladies bowl- ing league held their annual dinner and awards night at the deerpark inn on may 10- winners of the top team award the le gion auxiliary tro phy was presented to the team of de bbie rennie cap tain ella nichols joanne gunther mae budd marg wood and ruth paisleythe playoff championship tro- phy was won by gayc lehman cap tain ruth shep- pard opal lehman chuck valleau glenys drewery and kathy gourley individual awards were pre sented to foote high spare j summer programs the whitchurchstouffville parks arid recreation department is introducing an extensive summer program with activities in stouffville vandorf and ballantrae there are varied programs covering arts and crafts sports songs and games for young people between the ages of 6 and 12 years the program will run monday to friday from 9 am to 4 pm and the fee is 70 per session per child registration dates are as follows stouffville monday june 6 91 and 79 pm at the parks and recreation office 50 main street below the old post office building vandorf monday june 13 94 and 79 pm at the whitchurchstouffville museum vandorf ballantrae monday june 20 94 and 79 pm at the whitchurchstouffville centennial community centre ballan trae registrations will be accepted at the parks and recreation office until june 24 for the stouffville and vandorf programs and until july 15 for the ballantrae program after these dates registrations will only be accepted providing space is available the recreational swimming program will commence on june 27 registration for session one will be held at the pool office on june 2730 from 95 pm and 79 pm tennis registration for session one will be held at the recreation office between june 20 and 30 from 94 pm lessons start on july 4 and are run between 830 and 1130 am and 1230 and 130 pm daily all classes are of one hour
