twelve months nearer 18 if the truth were known have elapsed since the resi dents of that farflung community vandorf approached the parks and recreation commit tee regarding a ball di amond at whitchurch- highlands school they even collected a 1000 towards the cost of the project what hap pened sweet nothing is it any wonder that the citizenry get worked up to a lather when their simplest requests get shelved or as in this case completely ignored the truth of the matter is summed up in the old adage out of sight out of mind had it not been for councillor margot marshall creating mer ry hell at wednesdays parks and recreation meeting i doubt vandorf would have ever re ceived a reply inciden tally any doubts 1 may have had about van dorf s representation on the committee are dis pelled mrs marshalls presence blows through the corridors of power like a breath of fresh scented air revelations the long awaited answer to the oft repe ated question what is happening in regard to our sports complex will be revealed in part at the upcoming open house being held on february 21 the prop osals for the new build ing location and cost will be tabled for repre sentatives of all the towns organizations to peruse and you can bet your bottom dollar that controversy will rage thereafter whatever is decided will not please everybody and no doubt the proposals will receive rough passage from proponents who want the whole pie and those who are prepared to accept what we can afford bright ideas its amazing what ideas can pop up over a 45 cent cup of coffee more about that later two people have recent ly mentioned the amount of idle icetime at the arena and suggested approaching the schools and letting them use the ice during the week the idea has considerable merit after all why not have intermural and in terschool hockey the high school is already using it for their stu dents and its proving quite successful also it would help to sharpen the talents of a number of minor hockey mem bers who presently are not receiving any prac tice time just an hour a week for each class would be ideal and it would not detract in any large part from their education the idea was put forward by norm ewing and jim wagg who strangely enough have never discussed the matter between themselves sackcloth and ashes my apologies to the ladies at the arena snack bar last week i did them a gross injus tice by complaining that their coffee and tea was too expensive at 50 cents a cup itseems it is only 45 cents sorry ladies apologies must also go to all the students at high quest farm for not publishing any pictures of last sundays student show it seems i am having considerable dif ficulty with my mathematics these days developing what i though was a 32 expo sure film it turned out to beonly 20 consequent- ly not one solitary show picture appeared on the negatives never mind ill bring two cameras to the next student show in may competition it seems a little far fetched to me however there is rumour afoot that a group of entrep reneurs are interested in buying the old arena somehow i cant see it happening theyv might go into competition with the town and endup with all the customers can you imagine eldred the unready and his boys and girls allowing that mind you it might not be a bad idea who ever took it over might even start their own minor hockey associa tion that
