in the flrtt hall and led the game ritftrt up until the final is clubs international seconds of the kme travis whlles laio soccerfest 82 reached its peak in the final when after a scoreless game plus two ten mi nute overtime periods the battle between stouffvilles unbeaten mcneil labs and the sudbury hawks was still undecided it was not until he seventh ball of the shootout that mcneils gary bodimead tucked the ball nicely into the top side of the net leaving netminder jeff holden to make his fin al save of the day a spectacular fullreach dive onto the deck that pushed the ball around the post the cham pions had their hands full in the opener fac ing a very aggresive goal saved the day fur a 11 finish going on to down the woburn wolves 50 mcneil had their first win against this power ful team in three years goal scorers were richie holden travis white dube bader drae glover and jamie grist a scoreless third round game against the hawks gave an in dication of a tough fin al ernie sluga did some fine defensive work for mcneil and although the strikers were unable to score they proved adept at midfield pas sing defeating sudbury 5- 1 in the semifinal pro duced a solid defense by richard altman j aim humphries and gary uodimeade and kve the strikers a leidday of opportuni ties it was a classic offen sivedefensive battle for the trophy with mcneil the aggressors providing some buttermakers win uxbridge tourney stouffvilles butter- maker slowpitch mens team came up with their second tournament win this season taking the top 500 prize at the ux bridge ov invitation al tournament over the weekend an 87 win in their opener against rotham went to eight innings before pete turner drove iri the winning run in their 94 win over the uxbridge uxpos jerry ratcliff randy lee and pete turner were the big sticks for stouffville driving in 2 homeruns apiece last years battle against betz pools was repeated this time with a 93 win good de fence by wayne jack son art nicholson dave slack and dave mcvicar contributed to the win with randy lee and brian ratcliff hitting home runs a solid team effort blanked the uxbridge dominion auto side 10- 0 with the emphasis on first- half lead sisemans tied it up in the second half before jason mas- key fired both winner and insurance goals farmer jacks se cured the league cham pionship with a 43 win over the aurora soccer club the farmers took an early lead with eric smiths goal his first of the season before aurora came back with the equalizer just before halftime aurora went ahead 2- 1 early in the second half with the farmers equalizing on michael tribes solo effort fol lowing the kick- off tribe added two be fore before the final whistle although the selects were eliminated from play in the soccerfest 82 tournament they managed a first round win against the us team from rush henrietta blanking the visitors 30 on goals by billy payne 2 and jurgen schwartz net- minder jason brock earned the shutout against the second american team brighton the selects went down 31 despite many scoring chances michael tribe who nowtravels from mis- sissauga to play for stouffville netted the select goal it was the same story against sudbury the selects could have torn holes in their net but lacked the finishing touch they dropped a 21 decision tribe again notched the lone select goal while netminder brad poole performed like a cat on a hot tin roof to keep the selects in the game- good perform ances by jason mas- kery allan bodimeade and jason underwood are worthy of note equals the speedy rightwinger
