dixon ninth line north stouffville is a parttime attendant in the refreshment booth at bruces mill con servation area other activities include roller and ice skating swimming horseback riding rughooking and embroidery jim thomas editors iwajl need more for young dear mr thomas i wish to take this opportunity to offer my praise for the work the county breakers are doing in providing en tertainment for the grade six to nine young people here in stoukvule toe dances are well organized and chaperoned terrific prizes are provided with all proceeds going back into the program since its a nonprofit project last year a 50s dance contest was held the tribune sent a reporter with no camera and the results were published on the last page of the paper i dont know if youre personally opposed to these dances but youve personally never at tended they have a good discjockey eight to ten chaperones of which i am one who give up 34 hours of our time three friday evenings a month unless one has a boy playing hockey or a girl taking figure skating lessons theres nothing in town for the kids to do our biggest dance so far attracted 200 kids so 1 obviously theyre en joying them im not a member of the cb group but from what ive seen a big thankyou should go to darlene brown and her helpers in my opinion i think its high time the tribune and the stouffville council started something else going for the young people here perhaps on a saturday night instead of parents having to take them out of town for entertainment t a parent editors note either you dont read the tribune very thoroughly or you havent talked to mrs brown concerning our papers support of this project weve publicized these dances free of charge since they were started and also did i two personal interviews with mrs brown concerning their success as far as ad ditional youth programs are concerned this newspaper and council too are always open to suggestions finalists dicksons hill heather hoover grade
