stouffville the groom is the son of mr and mrs john hutchinson bloomington the democrat now a museum keepsake was once owned by richard williams of stouffville it is said that he often brought his shut down businesses may fold and payrolls may stop but the man with land can always grow something to eat the soil is natures greatest gift to man it will support our children and our childrens children if we care for it home ownership gives one a feeling of permanency no country rises above the standard set by the farmer as he prospers so does a nation a man who lives by the land lives in peace stouffville the canadian bible society is sponsoring an evening of music with the famous earlscourt band and songsters friday oct 12 in the stouffville missionary church at 8 pm the brass band has long been an integral part of salvation army worship the earlscourt band is one of the finest in canada brian ring has been bandmaster at earlscourt since 1959 this appointment continued the traditions established by his father and grandfather both of whom served as salvation army bandmasters mr ring is a professional engineer and worked with atomic energy of canada ltd he now serves as president of a consulting engineering firm to mark the occasion of the salvation armys centenary in 1965 the band was chosen to represent canada at the celebrations in london england the three week european tour undertaken by the band at that time included a program in the tuileries gar dens in paris and an emotion- charged reception as the band marched canadas new flag through the streets of dieppe they also played a command performance before queen elizabeth in the forecourt of buckingham palace in 1967 the band was invited to play at expo in montreal the first canadian salvation army band to appear on television earlscourt has provided music for the armys nationwide radio program this is my story and the television series the living word as recently as one month prior to this western tour the band and songsters provided the music for the hallelujah trail of 98 a histroical narrative of the pioneering of the salvation army in the yukon territory during the gold rush of 1898 this two hour special was produced by cbc radio in toronto and aired on the national network from coast to coast dear jim on behalf of the whitchurch stouffville branch of the arthritis society i
