i r i children recjye s s awards the tribune thursday december 21 1978 15 magic of christmas last week we defied logic and assembled our christmas tree there are some imitation trees around that shoot straight from their boxes to ten feet of instant beauty tinselled tassled and snowcapped but not ours we own the original phoney fir manufactured by the fuller brush company from old bottle brushes and a broom handle it leaves esthetics strictly to the strained ingenuity of the assembler and to the benevolence of the beholder odd though how this disparate collection of plastic needles and wire becomes a thing of beauty when touched by the magic of christmas childrens show the magic christmas will be here on stage for all to see when the theatre max comes to latcham hall tomorrow night friday the company will present the reluctant maxine a funfilled show for children featuring a wiz of wizards music and dance the per formance sponsored by the library through the ministry of culture are also shut on new years day but resolve to open on time jan 2 books overdue resolutions for 1979 please dont let closed library doors deter you from returning all these longoverdue books theres a deposit box beside our front entrance and its forever open rounding up the overdues is never the most popular job in the library we like to think we do this casually without harassment last week however one oftphoned patron with tongueincheek or foot-in- mouth referred to our diplomats of the overdues as the library gestapo staff party if you happen to be reading this on the date of publication around about 8 pm you will find us gathered around a table at deer park inn over there is terry our exchief librarian george our actingchief and andre our abouttobechief and theres barb
