blvd at hwy no 7 markham the owners of the spring lakes golf course dont believe on resting on their laurels it has been barely a year since the course at ringwood opened and already a major ex pansion is underway which can be clearly seen by anyone driving by whats going on is a second 18 hole course to compliment the highly successful first 18 when finished it will be the largest course in the area the work which starting the first of august is going along smoothly and on schedule despite some recent delays because of rain he said the first nine holes is hoped to be opened for play in 1980 the back nine for 1981 along with the course a new clubhouse will be constructed also for 1981 in fact weve got five holes almost com pleted now and we are presently working on the second half of the back nine nine holes will be completed this fall with the other finished in the spring however mr frost noted that once constructed the course will sit for a season of grooming and fixing up any drainage problems we want to make sure the course is as perfect as it can be before we open it up to the public the new par 72 18 holes will be quite similar to the first course although mr frost did admit it has been made a little more difficult that the first but it is definitely comparable when completed the 36 holes will be rather unique it is quite unusual to have a course this big although many clubs might want 36 holes they just dont have the land in fact thats one of the main reasons why we built here because it does have the room mr frost said because of this spring lakes will be able to cater to a lot more people as it is we have no tournament play its strictly for members and pay as you play also next year the club will be offering week long and summer long memberships on a limited basis we are starting memberships but the club will not turn into a private affair well always have at least 10 to 15 per cent pay as you play members we have to have it to ensure that new people will always be using our facilities the club does not want it closed to just those with memberships a flat fee will be charged for membership with no other fees membership for the five day week will be 175 and for full membership 425 rt soccer dance meet the whitchurch- stouffville soccer league is holding an end of the season dance at the ballantrae community centre next week the dance will
