took almost six months and numerous phone calls but k ross davis one of stouffvilles most popular citizens finally received his silver jubilee medal from the queen mr davis better known as shine received word last summer that he had been selected for the honour along with former reeve george richard son the medal is awarded for those who have contributed out standing service to their community shine was born in stouffville and lived here most of his life he operated a tobacco and sundries shop and did tailoring and alterations in the back his main st establishment with its potbellied stove was a favorite hangout for the older men in town until his retirement in 1972 besides his business mr davis was also for many years the towns tax collector and was later appointed a
