the tribune thursday january 2c mt8 7 our churches nothing is ever really forgotten pastor bv rev panl hope churchill baptist ballantrae did you ever forget anything which one of us at some time or another has not forgotten something rather im portant an appointment an item at the store the name of a person you just met or some fact you wanted to write about on an examination this can be both embarrassing and frustrating well cheer up you did not really forget the fact you just couldnt recall it to your conscious memory experimenters such as penfield the canadian neurosurgeon have proven that w never forget anything we ever experience anything we see feel taste smell or hear is indelibly recorded in our mind we may not be able to bring it to conscious recollection but it is filed away in our memory by synthetically stimulating various parts of the human brain with small electrical charges patients were enabled to recall incidences long time forgotten some even remembered their own birth these are almost unbelievable discoveries some of us may wish that a device were available so we could artificially stimulate our own brain and recall some of the things we seem to so easily forget un fortunately this is not yet available at your local drugstore such discoveries have farreaching im plications not only do we never really forget the good experiences we have but we can never really forget the bad 4 for a boy event chaired by ron ellis experiences and the guilt fear resentment and self- despising that is frequently associated with them rather they live on as hidden tor mentors making life miserable and in capacitating the in dividual studies done in sterling country nova scotia revealed that nearly 50 per cent of the population indicated some form of in capacitation because of emotional problems such as the above we may not be conscious of this guilt and fear or the reason for it by way of simple illustration a young man had received his ph d and was pursuing his chosen profession of teaching in a university his scholastic record was excellent and his ability as a professor was out standing but it became increasingly difficult for him to speak in public before each session be would become nervous bis heart would pound and he would perspire through counselling with a pastor it was discovered that this fear stemmed from an early school experience when he had broken down while making a speech in class the teacher had severely criticized and shamed him he had a memory that was severely in capacitating him and making his life un pleasant this is an example of fear but what about guilt and resentment does the christian message have any help for such amarillis tend to rather spectacular blooms but the plant grown by i bill morris of park st excited the
