south ontario county 4h beef clubs met for their test asst agric rep john finlay gave us a short review before the test and upon writing the test we found that- it was mostly multiple choice except for a couple of the last questions from the lesson aboutvfeeding protein and calculating rations- for dairy and beef cattle after the matter of the test was behind us we all relaxed and had lots of fun bowling in uxbridge when the great events on september 7 were over the members from the south ontario beef club had to rush around washing clipping and brushing their calves in last minute preparation for our achievement day which was on september 11 as for the achievement day it ran fairly smoothly for most but it hit dave chambers kind of hard the way he jumped up it seemed like nothing was wrong with him and we hope that was the case congratulations to the people who made it to beavcrton fair with their projects and especially to john robertson who came out on top with his champion beef steer well 1 guess the 4h year is pretty well drawing to a close fori most members except of course the proud people whose calves have made the gain of 21 pemnds per day since may for people like the ones that come out of 4h clubs id like to write aj special thanks to john finlay the asst agric rep that has helped to keep the south ontario beef club going this past year by coming to the meetings to teach the lessons and by joining in with the rest of us in our recreational activities i another important j factor is bruce gibson who showed us how to 1 groom our calves so they look their best to the judges im sure that some of his techniques were used by the club members that won prizes at the various fairs in which they exhibited and last but certainly i not least art richardson our club leader he really helped the club in organizing transportation for the calves and members to the fairs and achievement day that took place during the club year one thing that i couldnt help notice about him is that whatever club activity or just anything u we were doing he was jw right there to help any of j us that had any troubles i big or small i thank all these men on behalf of the south ontario beef club for helping us complete our 4- h year successfully 9 i w ji aifcij ft- vxs -tvr- va ft h a gsr r v ft w z teiwvcv tvt c4tirtu
