to emerge again this had been a fairly new venture in the home for them to have their own magazine to which they contribute articles themselves is v quite something for the residents they eagerly await the first of the month in the hope that it will be ready by then things have been continuing much the same during the last weeks and the art classes are still con tinuing well supported by residents and off duty staff last wednesday was birthday party day for those who had their birth days in january we would like to thank those from the anglican church in stouffville who made it a very enjoyable day and at the same time offer our congratulations to mrs stotesbury mrs de geer and miss pfohl who celebrated their birthdays last month thursday evening at the home proved to be an very interesting one this week for a change some of the residents of the home took part in the informal get together led and arranged by miss grace ramer the ad juvant of parkview she had mr e good and his grandchildren taking part mr s braley giving a little talk mr whit- tamore reciting some of shakespeare and mr willis hoover playing the organ the residents were very well en tertained and responded really well to those who took part we would like to thank rev don pugh of altona missionary church for ministering the word of god on sunday evening and mrs edith lewis for sharing in song more locals special service a special baden powell church service will be held this coming sunday feb 8 at stouffville united church local cubs and scouts will be present in the 11 a serv dinner in toronto mr and to approve plans of subdivision will be handed over to the region whitchurch stouffville is not represented on regional planning committee mayor gordon ratcliff- who argued against the resolution on the grounds he doesnt have time to sit on more committees said he would vote against the resolution if it ever came up at the region mayor ratcliff is the towns only represent ative on regional council handicapped seek recognition stouffville handicapped people can play a useful role in the com- munity that was the theme of a meeting recently in richmond hiuythe meeting heard norah love of the march of dimes tell how handicapped people are often too timid to take an active part in the com munity lack of acceptance by the non- handicapped is also a problem she said to foster better understanding and to find ways of integration into society at least one handicapped person in this area wants to form a local group margaret gibbons of musselmans lake feels that local handicapped weekly dinner to honor centre founder markham revdonaldparr one of the early supporters of the markham and dist family life centre will be honored thursday feb 12 rev parr is pastor of st andrews united church a dinner in his honor will be held at st patricks roman catholic church in markham he will receive a plaque testifying to his public spirit and organizational ability in setting up the centre that according to a press release has helped and continues to help countless families in this community stouffville the planning to establish a christian school in the area is well vunderway to that end a public meeting will be held thursday at- the parkside youth- centre steering committee chairman david barker said the meeting is being called to present a progress report and to solicit increased support from the community as well as the main steering committee an education subcommittee has been formed which includes professional educators in the public and christian schools a public
