women who are working to have the distaff side recognized by the candidates for the leadership of the ontario liberal party irma melville palatin crt and gail newall southdale dr are both delegates to the convention to be held this coming- weekend in toronto issues affecting ontario women should be ja priority in the cam paign if every liberal leadership candidate a press release from the committee stated the committee met nov 30 with the leadership candidates to outline concerns in the areas of family law child care education equal pay- international womens year has made many people sensitive to womens issues and women delegates especially will be listening closely to what the candidates have to say about these issues the press release said makkham lawyer paul mingay a coowner in the markham fitness and racquet club says he has no desire to become involved in a vendetta with town council he explains too that he has no objection to the construction of an indoor pool rather quite the opposite he feels the markham unionville area requires such a facility but at that point the project should end he observes nothing more at least not now with respect to the ptoposed pool paul points out that it was he i who was instrumental in organizing a local committee to get it rolling one of the meetings was held in his office he said they made a decision so why dont they get on with it he asked he suggests that if the town continues to procrastinate on the issue theyll miss the boat then theyll likely blame me be noted the local solicitor admitted be had written a letter to the ontario municipal board asking that he be informed personally if and when a public hearing is held on the matter while not a formal protest mr mingay says hes not sure what the omb may conclude from it theyre not stupid he said im sure they have press clippings and know whats going on paul mingay refutes the claim of some councillors that squash courts and a fitness centre will subsidize losses incurred by the i pool its just not so he said he feels the town should check out such operations in other places if they want to know the truth mr mingay iinig that anyone really in terested in fitness courses can enrol in classes offered by the parks and recreation department at the high school v they have a tremendous program going there he said of course he added- if people want something posh like saunas and whirlpools thats something eke but they as individuals should pay for it and not place the burden on the taxpayers- mr mingay said that from the comments hes i heard and the calls hes received most people agree with his stand two youths convicted in theft animal pick ups down in town h stouffville 5 the number of animals picked up in the municipality by kennel inn the new
